Italy readies to host ASP World Longboard Title
Levanto Italy welcomes the first world final longboard champs
There was a lot of hype at the recent press conference in Milan, Italy, during the announcement of the Bear Pro World Longboard Title 2011 presented by JEEP, in collaboration with the ASP. The thirty-two best longboard surfers in the world are expected to put on an incredible performance when they battle for USD $50,000 in prize money offered by the title sponsor and legendary Californian surf brand BEAR SURFBOARDS.
Among the
stars of this unique event
will be the world champion
Duane De Soto (Hawaii), his
rival Justin Bing (South
Africa), and top European
surfer Antoine Delpero
(France).
The event is proudly
produced by Reset
Communications in
association with Area 51,
the Liguria Region, the
Province of La Spezia, and
the town of Levanto. In the
recent years Levanto has
become the undisputed
primary surfing location in
northern Italy. Its large
bay receives great waves
when Libeccio and Mistral
winds blow.
The reef
and sand seabed permits the
formation of waves of
different sizes, but the
success of Levanto is due
mostly to the quality of the
waves. Each time the swell
hits the coastline in
Levanto many local surfers
and tourists can be seen
ripping up the waves.
"It’s an unprecedented event
in Italy, a dream come true
and everyone is very excited
to give the Italian surfers
what they wanted for long
time", confirmed Brodie Carr
CEO of the ASP. "And the ASP
will guarantee extensive
media coverage including a
live webcast of the contest
around the world".
"The BEAR PRO 2011 presented
by Jeep, will assemble for
the first time in Italy the
thirty-two best surfers in
the world" said Riccardo
Belli, President of Reset
Communication. "We will live
ten days of great passion
and enthusiasm, providing a
great return on investment
for our sponsors and media
partners that have supported
us since the beginning ".
In addition to the main
sponsor BEAR, and is
supported by big name
sponsors including Red Bull
energy drink, Ferrari
winery, leader in Italy and
among the top ten in the
world and ASAHI, the best
selling Japanese beer in
Italy.
